Estate Cleanout Dumpsters across Louisville Metro
Clearing out a full household after a death in the family, a move to assisted living, or a long-overdue downsizing is a different job from a normal cleanout. There's usually more of everything — furniture in every room, decades of storage in the attic and basement, a garage or shed nobody has fully sorted in years — and it often has to happen on a timeline set by a probate process or a closing date, not by how motivated everyone feels on a given Saturday.
We drop a container at the property and leave it as long as the rental period allows, so family members, an estate sale company, or a cleanout crew can work through the house in stages: keep, donate, discard. When the discard pile is ready, it goes straight into the dumpster instead of a garage or curb.

Estate Cleanout Dumpsters — the Louisville-area specifics
Estate cleanouts happen in every part of Jefferson County, from a ranch home in Fern Creek to a condo near St. Matthews, and container placement is usually a driveway drop with no permit needed on private property. Old Louisville is a case worth calling out on its own: it holds the largest collection of Victorian-era homes in the country, and clearing one of these century-plus houses is genuinely different work. Narrow lots, shared alleys, and little or no off-street parking mean the dumpster placement often has to happen on the street itself, which can call for a temporary placement permit from Louisville Metro Public Works. These older homes also tend to produce a different kind of debris — lath-and-plaster walls instead of drywall, older flooring and trim, sometimes materials from a build era where lead paint or asbestos are a real possibility. We haul the general household and demolition debris; testing and abatement of anything suspected hazardous is a job for a licensed contractor, and we're glad to talk through what we can and can't take once that's been sorted out.

Estate Cleanout Dumpsters — your questions answered
How long can we keep the dumpster for an estate cleanout?
Rental periods are flexible and built around the project, since estate cleanouts often take longer than a weekend. Tell us the general timeline when you book and we'll set the rental to match.
Can the dumpster sit on the street instead of the driveway?
Yes, if the property doesn't have room. Street or sidewalk placement can require a temporary permit from Louisville Metro Public Works' Right of Way Permits office, which is common for tighter lots in older neighborhoods like Old Louisville.
What can't go in the dumpster during a cleanout?
Paint, chemicals, propane tanks, and other hazardous materials can't go in with general household debris. If a home is suspected to have lead paint or asbestos from its construction era, that needs to be assessed by a licensed contractor before that material goes anywhere.
Do you offer any size guidance if we're not sure how much is in the house?
Give us a general sense of the home's size and how full it is and our team can recommend a size. Most single-family estate cleanouts land in the 20 to 30 yard range.
Is there a difference for a multi-story historic home versus a single-story ranch?
The volume is usually similar per square foot, but access is the bigger factor. Homes with narrow alleys or no driveway, common in older Louisville neighborhoods, often need street placement worked out ahead of delivery.
